Member: The Broadway Collection Anastasia, inspired by the beloved films, transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love, and family. With its opulent settings, dazzling costumes, and a soaring score including the song favorites from the hit animated film, “Journey to the Past” and “Once Upon a December,” Anastasia is the spectacular new musical about discovering who you are and defining who you’re meant to be.

Let the story unfold before you
May 18, 2017
Let yourself escape with Anastasia as she chases her dreams. The musical brings a more realistic tone to the movie classic, allowing one to actually wonder if the story could have happened; it is a complementary version to the beloved magical tale. The set is astounding, the costumes stunning, and the cast spot-on! Keep an open mind and let the story unfold before. You will NOT be disappointed.

A Musical Tale (based on alternative facts)
Jun 27, 2017
I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It sneaks up on you like vodka. Great for out of town guests, tween/teen girls and those who were tween/teen fans of the animated movie when it came out in the late 90's. Enjoy it as a fairy tale, it's obviously not based on historical facts. The cast is talented, the staging lends excitement to the proceedings and costumes are quite beautiful. A lot more music has been added since the animated film. (The songs will pull at your emotions, even if you don't want them to.) Don't look for Rasputin and his talking pet bat, they've been replaced by a mean but good-looking communist. If you're not bothered by the aspect of a population singing and dancing their way through a devastated, post-revolutionary Leningrad, you'll be good to go. Enjoy!

Nostalgic, but not what you're expecting
May 17, 2017
Absolutely gorgeous production value. The set and costumes are exquisite, and the musical numbers from the original score are extremely fun. However, this version departs fairly significantly from the animated fairy tale and incorporates some mature themes that may be jarring to those expecting family-friendly entertainment. A beautiful show, just not the one you may be expecting.
